bridal horrorWe have all heard of weddings where the bride has tripped over, the cake has collapsed, and there is one drunken display too many. Imagine then how some wedding couples feel when they have a wedding horror story that is truly awful. Some of the wedding horror stories we have found on our latest web round up have left us completely stunned and wondering how we would have felt capturing some of these events on film.

Russian Roulette

In 2010, a Russian wedding ended in tragedy after a game of Russian roulette went wrong, leaving one guest with a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head. One man pulled the trigger on a gun while holding it to his head and then offered the gun to another wedding guest. This time the trick went wrong and the wedding guest collapsed after a rubber bullet entered his skull at point blank range. The gunman insisted all the bullet chambers were empty and said he only wanted to liven up the wedding. Local police did not believe him and opened a criminal investigation into the tragic incident, which ended with the shot wedding guest fighting for his life.

I Don’t

A bride who jokingly replied ‘I don’t’ during her wedding found that her joke backfired slightly – as the registrar then refused to go ahead with the ceremony. As a result, the entire wedding had to be cancelled, and the guests sent home. The wedding was in Austria and the law states that if either party replies to the key question in the negative the wedding is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled for a further 10 weeks. This is intended to prevent forced marriages. The bride then had to send all guests home and the wedding was cancelled

Baffled Police

Police are used to hearing crazy stories but this one left them baffled. A wedding party member allegedly pulled a gun at the reception and started shooting. It happened when the best man decided to rob the DJ. The suspect grabbed an expensive crystal decanter full of whiskey and fled. Two months after the wedding police were still unable to track down the best man even though the bridegroom said he was called John Smith and they have photos. The groom stated he did not know the guy as he had asked him last minute to be his best man when his cousin pulled out.

Hotel on Fire

A man in Japan was arrested on suspicion of arson after the hotel he was scheduled to get married in was set on fire. The 39-year-old bridegroom had gone along with wedding plans despite already having a wife. He thought if he set a fire, he would not have to go through with the wedding. Seems to us he should have just said “No”!

Bride’s Bouquet Causes ‘Plane Crash

The traditional throwing of a bride’s bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash. The bride and groom had hired a micro light plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests.

However, the flowers were sucked into the plane’s engine causing it to catch fire and explode. The aircraft plunged into a hostel. One passenger on the plane was badly hurt. However, about 50 people who had been in the hostel escaped unscathed, as did the pilot who tossed the bouquet from the plane. He suffered multiple fractures.

Thankfully, we have not had to keep the cameras rolling at weddings of this type, but it does go to show some of the bizarre events that can and do happen at some weddings.
